Play Inspect is happy and proud to announce that we have been chosen to conduct regular Comprehensive and Operational inspections for all the playgrounds and fitness areas of the renowned sports complex.

Our Commitment to Sydney Olympic Park and Its Patrons

Our contract with Sydney Olympic Park is for our annual Comprehensive Inspections and our quarterly Operational Inspections.

This entails several aspects of playground safety and maintenance:

1. Safety and Compliance Check

The primary goal of any playground inspection is to ensure safety. Using Australian safety standards (AS 4685:2021) as a guide, we inspect to determine if the playground equipment, surface materials, and overall design meet safety regulations.

2. Equipment Integrity and Maintenance

Equipment inspection includes checking the structural integrity of swings, slides, climbers, and other equipment. We inspect for wear and tear, corrosion, or damage that may have occurred due to weather conditions, vandalism and typical use. The maintenance of moving parts, such as swing chains and bearings, is also checked.

3. Playground Surfacing

Playground surfacing is a critical component in preventing injuries from falls. Play Inspect checks if the surfacing material, whether it's rubber, sand, or mulch, provides sufficient cushioning. We ensure that the surfacing is evenly spread and free from tripping hazards.

4. Accessibility Evaluation

In accordance with the Disability Discrimination Act 1992, playgrounds should be accessible to children with disabilities. This is an aspect which we include in our playground evaluation. We make sure that the Sydney Olympic Park offers inclusive play opportunities, such as wheelchair-accessible equipment and pathways, and sensory play options.

5. Hygiene and Cleanliness

Our playground inspectors check the overall cleanliness of the playground. This includes checking for litter, graffiti, or animal waste. We also inspect the cleanliness of amenities, including restrooms and picnic tables.

6. Risk Assessment

Play Inspect will dutifully perform regular risk assessment to identify potential hazards that might not be immediately apparent. This involves evaluating the playground layout, checking if sight lines for supervisors are clear, ensuring the equipment is age-appropriate, and checking if there are safe areas for children to run and play.
